Mason and I went outside for a walk. Lots and lots of spring flowers coming up. Wow. I can't wait! I also planted about 40 more tulips (I got them on clearance over the winter) Hopefully they will make it.
Shutterfly posted one of my articles on their blog today. It's titled "What's in your camera bag?" If you get time. Leave me a comment. Here's the link http://blog.shutterfly.com/7150/whats-in-your-camera-bag/
Looking forward to summer butterflies! I just got this in my email today: (Thought i'd share with you!!!)
16 Plants for Caterpillars
To attract butterflies, host plants are a good place to start. These plants provide a spot for butterflies to lay their eggs, and they also offer food for the caterpillars. Butterfly expert Tom Allen recommends the following "sweet 16" to attract some common species.- Aster—Pearl crescent
- Everlasting—American lady
- Carrot—Black swallowtail
- Choke or black cherry—Tiger swallowtail
- Dill—Black swallowtail
- False nettle—Red admiral, eastern comma
- Fennel—Black swallowtail
- Flax—Variegated fritillary
- Milkweed—Monarch
- Pansy—Variegated fritillary
- Parsley—Black swallowtail
- Passionflower—Gulf fritillary, zebra long-wing, variegated fritillary
- Snapdragon—Common buckeye
- Toadflax—Common buckeye
- Violet—Most fritillaries
- Willow—Viceroy, western tiger swallowtail, red-spotted purple, mourning cloak
Cool! I didn't know any of that except maybe the milkweed and you told me that :)
